Belfast Harbour sets sail with Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP

Belfast Harbour, Northern Ireland’s principal maritime gateway and logistics hub, has selected Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) to streamline its financial operations, increase agility, improve insights, and enhance decision making across the organisation.

Belfast Harbour is Northern Ireland’s primary maritime gateway for trade by operating a sustainable and world-leading regional Port and investing to develop the Harbour Estate as a socially responsible key economic hub. The Port handles more than 25 million tonnes of trade every year which equates to more than two-thirds of the region’s maritime trade activity. As it continues to expand its operations, Belfast Harbour needed to automate and streamline its financial and planning processes to better manage resources, improve planning and reporting capabilities, and reduce operational costs. After a tender process, Belfast Harbour decided to move finance and planning processes to the cloud with Oracle Cloud ERP and Oracle Cloud EPM.

“Belfast Harbour is a major contributor to the Northern Ireland economy, and is adopting a cloud-first strategy as we continue to deliver on our SMART Port ambitions,” said Maurice Bullick, finance and compliance director, Belfast Harbour. “A more efficient and flexible business operation is critical for us to sustain our growth trajectory. Oracle will help us connect data across the organisation, enabling us to have better visibility of our business and adapt and scale our operations at the pace that we require.”

By leveraging Oracle Cloud ERP, Belfast Harbour will be able to increase productivity, reduce costs, and improve controls, while Oracle Cloud EPM will enable the organisation to better connect operational and financial data across its HR, sales, finance, and procurement functions to improve insights, accelerate decision making, and enhance its business modelling and planning. Additionally, Oracle’s quarterly updates will help Belfast Harbour tap into a continuous stream of innovation and advanced automation capabilities on a regular basis.

“As the global trade industry continues to shift, having accurate data and a strong integrated platform is non-negotiable when it comes to managing finances,” said Guy Armstrong, senior vice president of applications, Oracle UK and Ireland. “By leveraging Oracle Cloud ERP and Oracle Cloud EPM, Belfast Harbour will be able to improve productivity, tap into continuous innovation and make more informed decisions to help the Northern Irish economy to grow and thrive.”
